using yagi antenna with NYSP

Hello, I was wondering how to determine where to point the yagi at when trying to receive NYSP. I know you normally point at the tower but with NYSP "KA6004" it does not list any towers. It is all listed as "Mobile" and "Other".

The bases transmit in 155.505, which is on different licenses. Take a look at this search

KA6004 is a mobile license.

For Troop A, listen to their top of the hour identification, which lists all of the callsigns under which the various Troop A transmitters operate. Then figure out which one you want to point your antenna toward.

I only remember the callsigns for Troop E because I heard them all the time ("KED910 to 917, KXJ296, State Police Canandaigua [badge number]").

If you use a yagi you may miss a lot of NYSP mobile to base car to car communications since they don't use a repeater system.
