Trying to monitor Care Ambulance dispatch in Mission Viejo using LTR National Science and Technology Network (Sierra Peak #1 with TG 0-03-116 and am having a hard time being able to receive them. Am I doing something wrong or am I just in a bad location?

When you setup the system by using LTR as your protocol you need to make sure all of these frequencies are setup in line with the LCN's

001 (1) Confirmed LCN Los Angeles 01 472.0875 02 472.050 03 472.100 04 472.075 05 N/A 06 472.125
07 472.8875 08 N/A 09 N/A 10 N/A 11 N/A 12 N/A
13 N/A 14 471.4125 15 N/A 16 472.8375 17 N/A 18 472.975
19 N/A 20 N/A

So what you need to do is make sure you fill in each slot that correlates each frequency.

Make sure slots 10,11,12,13,15,17,19,20 blank. Fill in each slot with the other frequencies.

System properly entered. I might be trying the wrong TG. Trying 1-05-121 and I think that is what I need for South Orange County.although I thought I had that entered that and got nothing yesterday. Definitely working now though. Thanks for the reply

Just put the system in the search mode and see what talkgroups come thru.

Yeah, you can do that if you don't mind listening to all the security people, garbage trucks, and tow trucks but there are two talk groups listed that would apply, one on Sierra peak which I don't seem to receive to well and the other on Santiago peak which I do get. I tried the Santiago peak and didn't seem to get anything so I thought I would ask, Anyways, not sure what I was doing wrong but alls good now.

It would make more sense that Santiago was used to cover MV. I hope you find what your looking for. If you do let us know please.

Care South OC Ops (OCFA Areas 6,7 and 8) are all on NSTN Santiago Peak. It's referred to as "OC South".

For North Ops, those units not dispatch directly by MetroNet and OCFA Areas 5 and 9, they have 3 active talkgroups on the Sierra Peak site. Fire Primary, Private 1, and Private 2. If you listen you will figure it out. Sometimes depending on the time of day and the amount of dispatchers, all calls (Fire and Private) are dispatched on Fire Primary. Later in the morning/early afternoon they will split the private cars and fire designated units and cover units.

They seem to do a decent job. You can tell they watch the AVL on their units very (very) closely. I don't monitor too much but I've heard my share of speed warnings and poor routing comments to units on hot calls.

The RR database is correct. I am hearing Care South 911 Dispatch on the Santiago site 1-05-121 tonight.
