I usually download recordings to my computer. Then using Windows Explorer I can see several details. The name of the file corresponds to its creation date/time.

It would be nice if there was a REC indicator on the screen when it's recording Sometimes I start a recording and later forget it's recording.

With the Uniden DMA scanners, if you can find it, ScanREC Pro (SR Pro) is a great logging program.

The included player will show date, time, frequency etc.

Here's what the log file looks like:

And when you playback using the included SR Pro player, here's what it shows playing the 3rd hit that log file. You can edit the log file to play only the logs you're interested in.
For example, you could have 500 hits and if you only care about hits on one frequency, you can delete all the other frequencies from the log and you will only hear those of interest during playback using the SR Pro player
