Over the years, I've collected multiple different frequencies for the NJDEP/NJFFS and at this point am not too sure which are still accurate or current (or incorrect). What I have is a bit different than the RRDB. Does anyone involved with the NJDEP/NJFFS have any input on the following?

Code:
CHANNEL 1 151.190000 NFM CTCSS 179.9 0
CHANNEL 2 159.300000 NFM CTCSS 179.9 0
CHANNEL 3 151.325000 NFM CTCSS 179.9 0
CHANNEL 4 159.345000 NFM CTCSS 179.9 0
CHANNEL 5 159.465000 NFM CTCSS 179.9 0

CHANNEL 7N 151.265000 NFM CTCSS 131.8 0

Here's the 'official' Forest Fire freqs. The 151.19 and 151.325 DEP repeaters have the same frequency pairs but different PLs at their sites. I'm trying to find my lisiting for that.

I believe the majority of DEP ops are on NJICS and the State 800 Trunked system now. I haven't heard anything on their conventional frequencies in a long time (but haven't really spent too much time listening either). Perhaps a couple of them are still used as back up/inquiry channels?? Perhaps a few of us can program these conventional frequencies into our scanners just for fun and report back if we hear anything and from where.

Thank you so much, jeff! I had a feeling my list wasn't entirely correct.

N2ZGE, aside from the NJFFS frequencies, I don't hear much or anything at all on these.

Yes, all of the frequencies listed above are still in service, except the "Local" channel and the 7B/8B/9B channels. Local was used by Section B-10 for a short time before moving back to the state assigned freqs. They also used a privately licensed VHF business repeater for some time after that but that has also ceased to be in use. Most of these VHF freqs (except FF and Parks which are still full time on VHF) are now used as a back up to the State 700/800 systems where coverage is still spotty. I was using a few of the frequencies at work this past weekend, however you won't hear much this time of year.

Are the "B" frequencies and "local" still programmed in radios or are they completely discontinued?

The "B" channels were only proposed at one time and never used. They were never programmed. And the B10 local channel is no longer in the B10 radios. The above chart that Jeff posted is the current channel plan.

Thank you, guys, for all the information! I've submitted this all to the RRDB. Last question (or at least it should be):

Code:
159.40500 KYD792 M	123.0 PL	Island Beach	Island Beach State Park - Lifeguards FMN Public Works

Is this still in use or would this be considered deprecated? When I lived closer to IBSP, I don't recall ever hearing anything on it. I would hear IBSP units on channel 5, I believe.

Still very much in use. Most of the freqs are low powered 5 watt radios or the 45 watt car (mobile) radios and in simplex mode, so you have to be close to hear them.

question about these frequencies

What frequency would you hear say a major event or what frequencies do they use most?I never hear much of anything.I did have my radio on code search and a DCS code came up on one frequency with 606,so are the PL's correct or am I hearing something else.Keep in mind I have a portable.

I would assume that they'd use the tg's on the State 800 system and NJICS for anything major.

With regards to the NJFFS, channel 6 and your division's repeater are the most used. Channel 6 is most commonly used for local fireground. The PL tones listed are all correct.

Before some mis-information goes around, let's clarify the different uses of the various Divisions:

Environmental Response - NJ ICS 700 as primary, VHF Ch. 1 & 2 as back-up
State Park Service - VHF Ch. 5 (Island Beach State Park Lifeguards - Ch. 9A)
State Park Police - NJ State Police 800 TRS as primary, VHF Ch. 1, 2, 5 as back-up/inter-ops.
State Forestry Service & Forest Fire Service - VHF Ch. 6, 7, 7A, 8, 8A, 9, 9A, 10, 11. Future plans to use Ch. 1, 2, 3, 4 are currently being talked about, but not finalized.
Fish & Wildlife Division - NJ State Police 800 TRS as primary, VHF Ch. 3 & 4 as back-up.

There are future plans for State Park Police and Fish & Wildlife to switch over to NJ ICS 700, but has not occurred yet due to funding issues purchasing the new radios. The new radios were purchased for the Environmental Response Bureau first since they were having issues communicating on the VHF analog repeaters throughout the State, I was told.

And as Joseph11 stated, the PL tones listed in the database are all correct.
