Okeechobee public safety scanning

Hey folks, I have been looking at the above noted area in the data base and realize most police depts are SLERS or encrypted, my question would be, what if any good scanning would within range of the town of Okeechobee (staying for a month) on police bands? Should I be able to hear any decent coastal towns etc? I will be using a 996T with a whip on roof of my truck. Also have variable antennas including 800meg.
