Hi everyone,

I've been looking for a UHF Yagi for use with a BCT15x dedicated to the band. Ideally I'm looking for something between 450-490ish but I know of no Yagi that has that bandwidth. I was thinking 450 to 470 would be okay to grab signals in the low 480's. I looked at all the ones on antennafarm but there really no guidance. My price limit is around $100. Will be mounted in an attic most likely. Anyone have any recommendations?

Thank you in advance.

Most UHF TV antennas work well at those frequencies and they are cheap.

You would of course need to mount it so it is vertical instead of horizontal

Even a small corner reflector yagi TV antenna will work well as a UHF scanner antenna

You can get a stellar labs 4 bay bowtie that covers 460-890 for 27 dollars at MCM Electronics

It should produce about 10 or 11db gain at the lower frequencies

Scanner Master has an assortment of UHF yagis but they are all priced above your $100 price limit. Maybe you can get the exact make/model number(s) from Scanner Master and see if you can find a lower price elsewhere. The lowest price UHF yagi that I see there is a Maxrad MYA4506 450-470 MHz with 10.2 dB gain for $139.95: Maxrad MYA4506 Yagi Base Antenna | Scanner Master

Here's the link to all of the single-band base antennas at Scanner Master: Rooftop Single-Band Antenna for Police Scanner Radios | ScannerMaster.com

EDIT: Solid Signal has the Maxrad MYA4506 (now being sold under the PCTEL brand name apparently as model number MYA4506N) 450-470 MHz with 10.2 dB gain for only $83.99: PCTEL 450-470 MHz 10.2dB 6 Element Yagi Antenna (MYA4506N) from Solid Signal

Most Yagi's made for 450-470 will still work well into the 480s and I use them all the time in the 440-450 range. If you look in the RR classifieds under "antennas and coax cable", on page 3 there is an ad for a great 450-470 Yagi cheap. Make sure you PM the guy (me) since the classified ad contact system doesn't always work.
