Hello everyone, I am considering putting up a small homebrew DMR repeater or a hotspot this year and was wondering if I could do it by using switchable Orion/M7100 radios that would be reprogrammed (via .sc file) for amateur 70cm band.
Currently most of the MMDVM compatible radios listed are Motorola brand such as CDM1250, M1125 and some Yeasu radios as well, but as of now I see no technical reason why I could not use Orions as the pinout is fairly straighforward:
1 COS Carrier on sense (squelch)
2 Rx audio Receive audio from radio
3 GND Ground
4 GND Ground
5 Tx audio Send Transmit audio to radio
6 PTT Push to talk (turn on transmitter)
My question is concerning the feature encryption data option, and what does it do exactly.
Will it prevent me from properly receiving/sending data to the radio from the MMDVM board as it senses it is data, or it is something else that I do not know ? The main requirement for radios using MMDVM is that they are 9600bps capable.
Best regards,
