Since I upgraded my 436HP to DMR, I haven't heard one system work until I visited Sea World in San Antonio, Texas. My hat goes off to the person who successfully analyzed this system. I have attempted to hear other DMR systems, but the one I was near did not work. Reportedly, it worked on Whistler radios; however, Uniden scanners need the right order of frequencies in order to work.

Sea World was clear as a bell! I am happy I paid for the DMR and PV updates.

The X36HPs need at least SOME of the LCNs correct on larger sites on MotoTRBO TRS to work good, but they will work OK with NO LCNs right. Just like EDACS and LTR systems. If the LCNs are not all right, you miss traffic. Especially on multi site systems. On one site I monitor on an multi site UHF CON+ MotoTRBO TRS, when I first started monitoring it, none of the LCNs were known, and I still got a good bit of traffic. Once I identified 5 of the 15 frequencies LCNs, I began really cooking on traffic! eventually I will get all the LCNs for all 4 sites I can receive correct, and then really have fun!

Yes, I heard some of the radio traffic for Baylor PD using homemade DMR system. I took some of the FCC frequencies for the call sign specific to Baylor PD and loaded them. Yes, indeed, I heard short bursts of voice, but no followed conversations. On the other hand, I attempted to monitor the Winstar Casino in Oklahoma, but the information submitted did not result in monitoring DMR. It did not work. I sat there and watched them key up in front of me without any response on my 436. So, I will be buying a dongle setup in the near future.

If you get 1-2 bars of signal sometimes it won't decode correct. I notice on a system here on a Con+. I have to put them in Conv mode instead Trunk. You'll need to have the correct Colors and put the freq lcn as 0 if analyze for lcn correction.

The_Darkside & Michael-SATX frequently go LMR and DMR hunting. They discover, search and document/map control channels, LCNs, TGs, Colors and confirm and verify users. A lot of the SA area database is due to their painstaking work.

I think a lot of people bought SDR set ups and started figuring out how DMR. NXDN, and other digital formats worked on the hope that Uniden and Whistler would come out with scanners that would utilize the data. DSD+ helped that tremendously.

I know from personal experience, that it can take hours to track down the proper LCN for a DMR system or the channel number/frequency combination for a NXDN trunk.

I still use my SDR set up to figure out systems even though I have two DMR capable x36HP scanners.

Saw this alot in my area -- weaker systems just didn't decode - until I added the copper foil to my battery door....

SA: Great Job

Although I tend to be a novice on some of the aspects of my 436HP and even PSR 500, I bow my hat to those who understand how to properly analyze a radio system. Thanks for those who figured out the SA DMR systems, well done!
