I have heard they have been switching to digital (NXDN) I listen to them frequently any truth to this and I also don't want to start a minor comment tsunami but any word if they are ENC.
Moderators if this does goes South on ENC. lock the comment.
Thank You

I have not heard any in my area, but a look at IC database shows signs of railroad 4.8k NXDN being licensed: e.g. Concord area, 160.530/161.340 (callsign CKU476), and Montreal. Look for Occupied Bandwidth (4kHz) and Class of Emission 4K00F1EDN or 4K00F7DWT.

This is what we listen to in Toronto:

Code:
Concord - MacMillan Yard

Frequency Input License Type Tone Alpha Tag Description Mode Tag
160.23000 161.04000 RM	0 RAN	South	South NXDN Railroad
161.34000 160.53000 CKU476 RM	0 RAN	West West NXDN Railroad
160.47000 161.28000 RM	0 RAN	East East NXDN Railroad
161.10000 160.29000 RM Express Express NXDN Railroad
160.95000 BM Signal Dept NXDN Railroad
160.68000 161.49000 CKU474 RM	0 RAN	Diesel Shop	Diesel Shop NXDN Railroad
160.62000 161.43000 CKU483 RM	0 RAN	Hump	Hump NXDN Railroad
161.00250 BM	0 RAN	Extra	Extra NXDN Railroad

You can also add 160.77 which I believe is CN's Toronto Maintenance Centre.

All are clear if you have the means to monitor.

No problem with encryption talk. The rules here forbid encryption due to audio streaming discussion in any thread other than the dedicated thread in the RadioReference Tavern.

Thanks for the input everyone I see from mciupa that NXDN is being used in Toronto in the clear so in the future I see them all also migrating over to digital. I do have the means two dongles and DSD+ although it took over 1 year to learn how too run the system while using the same computer for other things slow learner.
