What is DMR (MOT) ?

This is the first time I have come across this....the signal is identified by DSD+ as "DMR (MOT)".

The only thing that comes up on the frequency is "Radio Check" with a Tgt and Src ID.

The latest version has been identifying the manufacturer on some systems. Some TIII systems show as Hytera and some as Motorola (the latter are obviously new Capacity Max systems)

Ok, makes sense. I haven't run across these "radio checks" before, so I'm guessing it was added to the latest release as well.

DMR is a digital standard like P25, D-STAR, etc. DMR originated in Europe under ETSI, and like D-STAR, DMR is available to the amateur radio community as a means of communications.

Tier I: Single-channel FDMA (Frequency Division Multiple Access) running ultra-narrow 6.25 kHz bandwidth, originally created as part of the European unlicensed dPMR446 service. It has been expanded a bit beyond that, but generally from what I've read it's not really used for much outside of Europe

Tier II: 2-slot TDMA (Time Division Multiple Access) with 12.5 kHz narrowbanding which results in 6.25 kHz in the end, similar to P25 Phase II. US operations are VHF or UHF and if you hear hams talking about DMR, this is likely what is being used.

Tier III: Trunking.

Thank you. I am familiar with the different types of radio systems. I was more interested in a change of the display that my DSD+ software was showing me. I appreciate the reply.

Ahhh ok. Yeah some of the radios feature a "radio check" which sends a pure data transmission as a private call to determine if another radio is on or not, so what you're seeing is the data exchange between the two radio IDs and the data transmission type, in this case a radio check as opposed to a normal group call or individual call.
