To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I wonder if anyone has a source for the BL-9 batteries for the Baofeng UV-82WP. This is the water resistant version of the UV-82. I have ordered ones on eBay but those marked at BL-9 do not fit. They are being sold for the GT-3WP and the case is molded slightly different enough that it will not fit the UV-82WP. Wanted to get a couple of spares if I can ever find a source.

TIA

Did you ever find any spares for the UV-82WP? I also had bought a BL-9 as a spare. Almost had it trimmed to fit, then broke the catch. Other than the spare battery situation, it is a decent radio for the price.

No luck!

No I have not been able to locate the one that fits this radio. I did trim one down to work but it is a real kluge job. One of my batteries failed shortly after I bought the radio. The clip broke on that one and I ordered one of the BL-9's on eBay. That is the one I have trimmed but it does not fit all too well. I can't believe there is no source for the correct battery and why they call both batteries a BL-9 is beyond me. Just adds to all the confusion since the ones out there do not work with the 82WP which lists that it is a BL-9 right on the battery pack that comes with the radio. Let me know if you find anything and i will do the same.
