• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a G5 amplified charger, and I was wondering if there is a way to make the lowest volume, lower? I know it's to be amplified, but I mainly bought it for drop in charging, and for at night time. Well the wife is not happy with the lowest volume, lol.

Thanks.

I noticed this with mine as well. Even with the volume all the way down on the amplified charger audio still manages to come through. I work from home and have the G4 on 24x7, whenever I need to take a call or jump on a meeting the only way to turn it down all the way is to either turn off the G4, or take it out of the charger and turn the volume all the way down.

Related to the amplified charger, I also notice that it seems to cut-off the beginning of most conversations (about 1/2 a second). And I know it's nothing to do with reception or anything of that nature. I had a few custom channel announcements that had voice at the very beginning of the recordings. The beginning of the announcement was always getting cut-off when in the charger and played fine when out of it. As an interim solution I ended up padding them with 1 sec of silence at the beginning so it's no longer noticeable.

I'm thinking I might be able to make a custom alert recording with a second or so of silence at the beginning and turn on voice buffering so the alert activates the speaker on the amplified charger... before it has a chance to cut-off the voice.

Plug in an external speaker, and pad that audio.
