i have been following this topic on their site. Most buyers are pleased, but a few report the VHF side is deaf. Plenty of comments from owners on the Facebook group.I am interested in hearing from anyone that has / is buying a Connect Systems CS-800D dual band DMR radio ?
How big is the remote head?
The head is smaller than you might think... only about 6 inches wide by 1.5 inches high.

Are you using the remote head set-up? If so, can you post a pic of the remote head mounting set-up?

I have a CS800 for now, and have the chassis 'mounted' under the pax seat as well. I simply left the programming cable connected so all I have to do is pull the USB end out and plug it into my lap top.If I'm reprogramming I just pull it out from under the seat, set the laptop on the seat, and off I go.
I'll try to do that over the weekend. The remote head does not easily come apart from the mount, and it's a bit of a chore to get the CAT5 cable bent in a good direction without crimping it, but it works out.
I'm happy that they chose to have the mic jack on the remote head, so many other amateur manufacturers seem to keep it on the actual radio body. This install is working out well for me thus far. If I'm reprogramming I just pull it out from under the seat, set the laptop on the seat, and off I go.
I sure hope Connect Systems vendor can get the firmware straightened out on these CS800D radios. Against my better judgment I bought one of these. The firmware is loaded with bugs. They are slowly fixing them but it's at a snails pace. Really was hoping for a usable dual band DMR radio instead of having two rigs in the car. This CS800D has been a big let down so far. It still sitting on my work bench waiting for some firmware that works.
They managed to screw up the CS750 radios with the last version of firmware so bad Connect Systems had to disable the download links. Cannot revert back to a working version apparently. So now I have two almost completely useless radios. Yay !
