• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have a new to me CDM1250 and the beeps are incredibly loud, vs the RX audio. I do have the "Alert Tone Offset" set to -50, but the key tones and priority scan alert tones are still super loud. Is there any other way to turn them down, instead of turning them off? Thanks.

I have a CDM1550 VHF radio with the same issue. Changing the alert tone offset on other CDM 1550's and 1250's I have does increase and decrease the button beep volume but this one 1550 does not respond to this adjustment, the tones are very loud. I opted to disable the tones on that particular radio. All my other warris radios are UHF and 220MHz and they all function normal.

What's the firmware in the CDM that doesn't acknowledge the alert tone volume offset... Maybe it's a firmware issue, and could potentially be what's happening to mine?

R05.02.03. All my other radios have newer firmware and seem to work correctly so perhaps it is a firmware issue.

Doh. having so many different Motorola radios and how each of them are completely different from series to series, if you turn Ind Alert on, it will then use the Audio Alert Offset. Hope this helps whomever comes across this thread.

Which menu is that in? I can't seem to find Ind Alert. I'm looking under the alert tones tab in the radio configuration.

Well you can do it from the radio itself if you have Audio/Tones available in your menu and go into Alert Volume Level, it'll come up with Ind Alert on/off. but in the Software it's under Radio Configuration, Alert Tones, and Alert Tone Fixed Volume.. I believe.
