• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Howdy All,

So I was trying to set a PTT ID for my radio. I programmed it in same place where I set it to read the ID's which works.

While the radio puts out an ID with squalk after my transmissions it is not putting out what I put in the radio. Does this have to be done in some sort of Hexadecimal code? I figured what I put it the radio would see, though I did realize some letters did not work when messing around.

I tried searching the forums but did not see anything.

For instance, was aiming for 214B but got 7155 on the output when other radios check my ID.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Did you put the ID 214B that you want in the MDC System under the signaling tab? And have you assigned that System to the Personality you're using?

Ah ha! Found it under the MDC-System 1 of 1 Signalling.

Well played - thanks for making me poke around a little more.

So the ID for all channels would be the same? Can I set another system? Just curious.

Thanks,

You can set a few different systems, I'm not sure the exact number cause I only use one, but just make sure you have the right system chosen for the personality you want it to be on, and you'll be golden.

Looks like only one system, not a big deal, just thought it would be ideal to have my other ID for the other channel - I will just keep it disabled.

Whelp, I'm a noob to this but under signalling I only see 1 system and no way to add.

Thanks,

Man this Motorola is making me look like a rookie, which I am....I found the + for some reason I never look there and I have no idea why that is.

I initially struggled with adding channels, the + sign again eluded me.

Thanks for your help...

Now had I not broken my cable I'd be able to fix up my radio with some recent changes. (New cabled ordered)

We all start out somewhere, glad I was able to help.
LOL - This is true.

Motorola is a bit more complicated than some of the ICOM's and even AnyTone radios I have done.

I have been doing pagers for a while, not so hard.

Anyway, thanks again for the assist, now I "patiently" wait for my new cable. lol

Thanks,
C.J
