    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hi all,

Im wondering if its possible to have more than 18 conventional freq`s? I live in an area where three counties collide and the 18 just isnt enough...

Thanks!

What is the model number of your radio? One version of the 1550 is limited, but others can do up to 160 conventional channels. It's important to know this when purchasing a radio.

The LTR/Passport trunking radios are limited to 18 conventional frequencies. If you get the non-LTR/Passport radios, you can have up to 160 channels.

There's often a seller on E-Bay that will replace a chip in the radio to remove the trunking and return the full conventional channel count. Never used him, but it's an option.

I think the "DP" part of your model number is the LTR trunking version. You can probably look that up over on Batwing Laboratories You want the AA version, which is the conventional only version.

Ive honestly got a few. The one currently on the bench is a AAM25RKF9DP5AN

thanks!!
R = UHF1 (403-470)
K = 25-40Watts
F = 1 line display, standard keypad
9 = Programmable
DP = Passport and LTR
5 = 128 Frequencies

Model Number Charts are all over the net.

Search tags: The Professional or Waris
Series of radios includes:

HT750 HT1250 HT1550
EX500 EX600 EX560 EX650
CDM750 CDM1250 CDM1550
HT1250LS+ CDM1550LS+ CDM1550LS

It may be helpful to search using wildcards.
If someone asks a question about one model,
the answer usually pertains to most, if not all.
They are all programmed with HVN9025 CPS.
The last version of the CPS released before the
product line was discontinued is R06.12.09.

If you need a blank codeplug, there is a folder
full of them, one for each possible model
number on your hard drive. The folder is in
the Program Files where your CPS is installed.
It is labelled SAMPLES.

Ive seen this. This is why im asking! So the 128 is for passport and LTR only?

I have added to other info

R = UHF1 (403-470)
K = 25-40Watts
F = 1 line display, standard keypad
9 = Programmable
DP = Passport and LTR
DU=LTR only
AN= Conventional only
2 = 64 modes
5 = 128 modes
6 = 160 modes
All have 16 zones and 16 scan lists

For a 128 model conventional you want an AAM25RKF9AA5AN, for a fully blown out radio you want an AAM25RKF9DP6AN model. You can put a Passport firmware in a radio without the board. When I find them I actually remove the board.

Since it is no longer a supported radio if you search around (even on this site) for the information to find the location on the net for the Lab version of the software (V3.01 I think was the last) and make the radio anything you want. Just be careful to load only the same version AN,BN,CN,or DN firmware, or you could brick the radio. You will also need Depot to change the serial number, but before you do anything read and save tuning info. You have an AN so you need to use a AN firmware.

There are tens of firmware versions contained in the software package, some with lots of channels but no DTMF or MDC on conventional. You may have to try a few to get what you want in the end. AN6 is conventional 160 mode with MDC only, and I personally use the DP6 which is basically everything.
