XLX313 XLX313 Reflector Dashboard, a US-based dual-mode (DSTAR and DMR) XLX reflector, is now available for use, providing the digital amateur radio community ultra high definition transcoding between XLX313 D-STAR Modules A-F and DMR TGs 4001-4006 (with XLX313 serving as the DMR master server). Our 4K-Transcoding system uses hardware based translation between D-STAR and DMR streams on connected systems. See Home | X Reflector Forum for further information. Pi Star is already configured, so users can ignore much of the connection information, but there is information on the linked reflectors on a page reached by clicking on 4K-Transcoding on the top menu bar. Any comments can be left in the section titled XLX DMR and 4K-Transcoding.

XLX313 module A / TG 4001 is persistently linked to the Kings of Digital reflector constellation, which also includes XRF002A, XRF310A, XRF555A, and XLX212A. DSTAR users can connect to any of these reflector modules, while DMR users wishing to connect to the constellation must connect to XLX313 as their DMR master and then link to talk group 4001 once there.

The Kings of Digital group hosts the long-running Thursday night D-STAR Round Table, conducted by N6HKH, that includes discussion of DSTAR and other open system/open source digital modes, on Thursday evenings at 1900 hrs Pacific, 0200 UTC during US daylight savings time (summer) or 0300 UTC during US standard time (winter). Real-time audio streaming is available on Broadcastify and podcasts are available the day following the net for those not able to listen and participate live. Further information on streaming/podcast options is posted at Home | D-STAR Round Table Forum

Module A / TG 4001 and the constellation reflectors also host the D-STAR Users Net, meeting every Saturday at 1800 US Mountain time. (0000 UTC during DST/0100 UTC during ST) Information is posted at https://www.facebook.com/groups/DSTAR.Users.Group/

Module B / TG 4002 is linked to XRF757 and the QuadNet. Information is posted at QuadNet2 USA IRC Network | D-STAR routing done open style!

As additional nets utilize this new capability, directly or on linked reflector systems, they will be listed on the Regularly Scheduled Nets section of the X-Reflector Directory at X Reflector Directory

Operations Note:
Transcoding between modes involves running a stream through high-speed real-time decoding and encoding processes. A marginal data stream with significant packet loss or a high bit error rate (BER) can result in disruptive effects being multiplied as the dirty bitstream is run through multiple end-to-end vocoder passes. This makes it all the more important to minimize operating conditions that introduce packet loss and/or bit errors. Wired ethernet connections are generally better than wifi for user hotspots. Also if in a marginal location for cell sites or repeaters, consider keeping transmissions short.
