If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Does anyone know where I might find a flexible gooseneck lamp that uses 12VDC.

I'm looking for something approx 12" or so and similar to the one's I've seen mounted in patrol cars
clipboard or computer area.

Thanks

Bob

It's nice and comes with both a white light cover and a red light one. It is halogen so it can get hot but thats the only con if it even matters, i've never had a problem. Very easy to install, it took me maybe 15 mins, and thats because the wires that come built in are very short and I had to extend them

There's this type which I have installed in my truck and works perfect off of the aux fuse block https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-004532171-Flexible-Reading-Housing/dp/B0000AYAEO

Sho-Me also makes one which is more similar to the maplights that are on the Havis consoles. https://www.chiefsupply.com/sho-me-18-led-map-light-hardwire.html

Both brands also sell the lights with a 12v cigarette lighter end if you didn't want to hardwire.

I have the Havis Shields C-MAP-T 12" halogen model, which I paid $5 for at a hamfest, including the two 12v "accessory power ports." Very handy gadget, although I removed the 2-pin halogen bulb on mine and put in a 2-pin LED replacement so it would run cooler. Works like a champ.

Havis Shields C-MAP-T Gooseneck Red White Map Light Lamp w/2 12V Outlets

There are several of these on eBay right now, with or without the power ports. A search for "Havis Shields gooseneck" brought up several.

LitteLite makes a few different designs, even those branded by other companies:
Littlite Task Lights Flexible Gooseneck LED 12V Adjustable Work

I've used these off an on for many years.
The halogen ones can get quite hot.
The halogen ones also have (or at least did) a plastic red shield that slid over the lamp for night use. Problem I've run into was that the plastic either got lost or damaged.

If you are buying new, I'd recommend the LED's just to eliminate the red plastic.
