Can anyone confirm these findings to be king and queen or Essex? Heard it last night around 1am with a talk group of 1541 but lot of encryption no open audio and found only two frequencies 460.175 and 460.4625

On 5/20/18 I was hearing a CC on 453.2625, and on 5/31 it was on 460.4625. Was showing 00A as either NAC or system ID.

Am also apparently hearing King & Queen simulcast on Cox DMR systems in both Roanoke (464.225) and New Kent (461.875). Fire/Rescue seems to use TG 2002 and am hearing what I think might be the Sheriff on 3003. Given the geography of the county, it might be productive to check out Cox's Fredericksburg an Gloucester sites

A lot to unpack here.

CPerk - it looks like one frequency is generating the first screen shot, and another is generating the second screen shot. Which frequency goes with which picture?

Allen - were you able to get RFSS, site IDs, and/or WACNs for the two frequencies you heard as control channels?

I suspect the two counties are running a joint system, but we're going to need more information.

The WACN (9281A) and System ID (00A) shown in the pictures "convert" to "WQYYXJ" when run through this site:

Project 25 WACN and System ID Conversion to Callsign

Sure enough, Essex's license begins with WQYY:

https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?fccCallsign=WQYY561

Based on the format of the WACN/System ID, I think we can confidently say this is a Harris system (not Motorola).

Nope, but I scanned all licensed freqs for both counties. Only the K&Q ones were active and only one on each date.

Tapp-Essex and King and Queen are indeed going on a joint trunked radio project. I believe Harris is the vendor.

Essex and King and Queen

Harris UHF P25 Phase 2- and just about 100 percent secure communication (encryption) with exception of Fire Rescue Dispatch for volunteers.

So we have near total encryption for Essex, a county with 22 officers, a population of 8,427 people with a total of 162 crimes last year (1.9% crime rate). Really. My sister lives in Essex and is on a fixed income....wonder how much her taxes are gonna go up to pay for the Sheriff's paranoia. Ah well......

Any idea on the cutover date? Which agencies, if any, will be using beside Sheriff and Fire/EMS?

Thanks,
Dave

I haven't heard any voice transmissions on Cox's Fredericksburg frequency (463.4250) in months of monitoring. I do hear the data transmissions for MOTOTRBO IP Site Connect every minute/few minutes.

Thanks,
Dave

From Port Royal yesterday, I was able to receive the Essex system well, and was just barely able to copy the King and Queen system. I've added control channels and site NACs to the database.

Essex radio IDs are 457xxxx.

DSD+ returned channel numbers for the control channels:

460.0750 - Ch 566
460.6000 - Ch 608
460.4625 - Ch 597
