Old school... who remembers the OLD UHF channels for PPB, Washington County?
Nets 1, 2,, 3 , 4, and ...net 8 ?
It was such fun in the 70's to listen to detectives following suspects on the tac channels! I remember them calling out "we're on 'K' street going northbound" etc. It seemed that the major roads were somehow coded by a one letter designator.
My uncle in North Portland received a Bearcat 8 channel base crystal scanner for Christmas one year. I remember sitting by it hearing a hold-up being dispatched on N. Lombard in St Johns. Wow, I was totally hooked scanners after that! 13 years old at the time. My first scanner was a portable Regency 4 channel scanner, then a Bearcat 4-6 portable scanner. (My favorite!, I had to buy that one again 10 year ago just for nostalgia ! )
