What method do you guys use to locate your nearest antenna sites?

I see 3 listed at a vacation spot Ill be next month
I will likely program all 3
Just wondered how you guys determine the distance to your nearest radio site

When it is working (not currently), I use the following FCC website:
http://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/General_Menu_Reports/

I click on "Site/Market/Frequency" which takes a person to a query (search) page where the latitude and longitude of a location can be entered along with how far out to search from that point for transmission sources.

Also bear in mind that other factors could influence things. A tower may be closer, but have lower power or height. There could be topographic features blocking/impeding signals.

I tend to over-program, putting in more sites than perhaps necessary. Generally 3-4 more "un-necessary" sites won't slow down scanning. If the additional sites are too far away, or you find them duplicating transmissions, they can be turned off if you set your quick keys appropriately.

I program them all, and use GPS to select the nearest ones.
