WS1098: edit freq.

Hello, trying to edit freq. on whistler 1098. Need to change 774.781250 to 774.78125c and can't get letters only numbers to display. Freq. is for Iuka PD in Tishomingo county Mississippi. Any help appreciated.

the c

stands for control channel and is not needed.
it is the where the data channel is, the never ending buzz sound.
your radio needs it to follow where to go and who to listen to.

don't sweat the small stuff.
and you might want to put all the frequencies in just in case a radio tech wants to change it up.
the county north of me has changed to a new frequency twice in five years.
if that happens and no one bothers to change the database, you get nothing.
i guess that no one in the county is on RR.

I'm not receiving on the freq. is the reason for asking. Picking up the County traffic but not the city.

what i see

is the county sheriff on that system and the city is on conventional.

Their both on Phase II. City is what i'm trying to get, 774.781250. Downloaded to scanner but not receiving any traffic.

maybe

set it to wildcard and see who you get.
like a talkgroup that is not in the database.
also have you seen this

The freq. are under wildcard.

then you might see some numbers that have no talkgroup.
that would because they have not been put in the database.
you might have to figure out what number they are.

How did you program this system into the scanner? If imported from the library, there should be no really need to edit any frequencies unless it is wrong but it doesn't sound like it is.

Your first comment makes me wonder:

If it is truly a trunk system, the frequency is not one-for-one assigned to any department.

I imported from library, just not getting anything from Iuka. Have a friend who has uniden P2 and he gets it.

Is your friend near you and are you sure he is monitoring the exact same site?

The Iuka site frequencies "appear" (but may not be) somewhat "incomplete" given there is only a single control channel frequency identified. Notice that with most other sites, there is usually a primary (RED) CC frequency and one or more alternate CC frequencies (BLUE).

Have you loaded ALL of the site frequencies for Iuka or just the CC (RED) one? Be sure to load ALL of the frequencies for the site you are trying to monitor and possible ONLY the site (or two) closest to you.

BTW - the FCC license information suggests a new frequency was recently added to each of the two sites in the county. Iuka seems to have added 771.45625.... You may want to add that one was well.

I'm still looking at the license and RRDB information -- something doesn't look right to me but I haven't been able to put my finger on what it is......
