• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I just got a hhch and am external PAS speaker for my xtva, the kit number for the xtva is ntn1607f and the antenna port as well as the charging circuit work great but when I plug in the hhch and the speaker nothing happens, no audio out of the speaker and no display or anything on the hhch, the radio does not go into remote mode like it's supposed to, I've been trying to figure out what I did wrong or if I missed something in the cps, I've already assigned the hhch button functions in the cps and still nothing works, any help will be very appreciated, thanks.

What radio? Firmware version? The HHCH is a PLN7737 or something else? You mentioned the antenna port works so I assume that means you have the RF adapter on the radio?

Depending on the XTVA, you may need to reset it:

To re-initialize the microprocessor, disconnect power and remove radio. On the DB-25 connector, short pins 21 and 23 together, and also short 1 and 10 together (Do not connect them all together). With the pins shorted apply power to XTVA for at least 10 seconds. Remove the power source and jumpers. Power the XTVA back up and insert a radio. The XTVA should display the following if successful:

Charge LED:..Single Orange Flash then changes to Solid Red
TX LED:.........Single Orange Flash then switches off

Note: TX LED is on the left, Charge LED is on the right.

Radio is XTS 5000 model 2 and the firmware on it is 20.05.09 I believe and yes I have an rf adapter on it, I have 3 rf adapters, one for each of my 5000's, vhf, uhf, and 7/800.

I've tried resetting both units I have and nothing changed so I'm completely stumped, I just think the internal components may be bad, thanks anyways.

I'll be weirded out if this works but someone just helped me with a speaker mic issue. I wasn't receiving audio and tried cleaning the contacts on the radio with and eraser but no joy. He still recommended cleaning them so I gently scraped with a steel pick and it worked. They looked prefect before but apparently there was something on them still. I had two xts3ks that were doing this and I thought it was board/flex related and I shorted something. 3 radios with dirty contacts would be a stretch but worth a try before you crack it open or toss it.
