• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Programming my 5550. Went smoothly other than an error.
Went to load the factory voice files.

Error #1924
Insufficient memory, unable to flash voice files.

Any input as to why I get this message ?

Crazy as it seems, the factory default files are too big for the XPR5550 codeplug to take them all. Remove the check mark from a few of the files (Do you really need channels 64 through 128 voice announcements?) - then load the radio, and it will work.

Stupid, but that's how they ship them.

Nice.
Well I feel kind of stupid. I was not intending on using all of them. They were all checked but I figured that just clicking them to highlight it would select it. Now I know to uncheck all the boxes and check the boxes I want.
Thanks.

Don't feel too bad - first time I ran across it, a tech with more than 30 years experience was trying to load the files to an XPR5550 & was having the same problem.

I'm new to the MOTOTRBO series software and radios. I'm use to the XTS and CDM CPS and radios. So I may have some other questions if you don't mind helping me out.

I've been working on MotoTrbo for more than 10 years, but I'd hardly hold myself out as an expert. Most of my knowledge comes via bruised knuckles.

If you haven't done it yet, go out and find the MotoTrbo system planner. It's like 200+ pages, but it's the best way to work through some of the different options available, and save you some headaches.

My knowledge comes from the same things. Trial and error mostly.
I do like the menu that pops up when you hover over and option that describes what that option does. It really helps
