Military/Amateur Interoperability

On the ARRL website, the following is included:

Again this year, a military station on the east coast and the Fort Huachuca, Arizona, HF station will conduct a high-power broadcast on 60-meter channel 1 (5330.5 kHz) on Saturday from 0300 to 0315 UTC. New this year will be an informational broadcast on Sunday, on 13,483.5 kHz USB from 1600 to 1615 UTC. Amateur Radio operators should monitor these broadcasts for more information about the exercise and how they can participate in this communications exercise, English said.

I think the interop frequencies will be broadcast on the 13,485.5 kHz USB from 1600 to 1615 UTC on Sunday. Hopefully it wasn't this Sunday, 29 Oct. 2017. Wasn't too clear there, was it?

FYI the broadcast on 5330.5 was in Morse code. I listened this past Sunday on 13.483.5 and didn't hear anything so maybe it is this coming Sunday.

November 4 thru 6. It helps to read the article. BTW this is simulating an EMP even either from a nuke or a Solar incident

I suspect the freqs will be announced for a period of time before the event. Problem with that is the propagation conditions may not be good for everyone at the same time!

For some reason, this thread didn't come up as being "new" before I posted about this event myself earlier this evening. Maybe I should have looked a little more closely at the threads. Sorry for the double.

There is a conspiracy theory going around now, that the blackout will be real, not simulated, in response to the alleged Antifa uprising in the 4th. Smh...

Not much into my QTH but lots of activity on 2 particular SDR's. Uniontown PA you could hear strong signals on 5330.5. In Elida, OH 2 channels were used - 5346.5 and 5403.5 with VG signals. Later in the day a SDR in ID was good.
