• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just wondered if anyone has come across a talkgroup for Emergency Calls on a Capacity Plus system. I that on a Hytera XPT system they use the default talkgroup 250 for Emergency Calls

Your feedback is welcomed

In MotoTRBO it's referred to as ALL CALL and it is TGID 255. It's not an "emergency" per se; it just transmits across all talk groups.

Does this work the same way on a MotoTRBO conventional repeater?
I found one that DSD+ shows as "Emergency" when TG 255 is active. I heard one of the users mention "this will key up all the radios". I don't know if it was a channel or emergency button they were using.

Yes, ALL CALL can work conventionally as well. However, it would only go out over one particular time slot/color code combination at a time.

If by conventional you mean digital but not trunked, yes (sort of). If you assign 3 talk groups to a time slot, talking on the ALL CALL will get to all the talk groups on that time slot. It WILL NOT transmit anything to the second time slot.

This is a non-trunked stand alone repeater. So far I have seen two other talkgroups. The main TG is on one time slot and 255 and the seldom-used TG are on the other time slot. I don't know if there are other TGs.

So you guys are saying it's not possible for the hand helds to monitor both time slots for All Calls?

Correct, subscriber units can only monitor one slot at a time. ALL CALL is simply a way to have everyone unmute to your traffic, regardless of what Talkgroup you're currently on/have programmed in your assigned RX group list.

What about receive? If you're radio is on 255, will that make it promiscuous and you'll hear all group calls on the slot?
