The wire on my Uniden wall charger has broken off. Until I get one can I use one I have that has input of 100-120v 60hz 150ma Output is 6.0v 400ma.
The Uniden one has input 120v 60hz 60mA Output is 6v 500ma
Thanks. God Bless †

The voltage and the polarity of the tip is the important factor as far as damaging the scanner. Current can be too low to supply power to a device, but never too high. If the voltage is 6v DC and the polarity is correct, which should be center positive for the 246 as it probably is the same as the others, then 400 ma current would likely be fine.

I used a 400ma wall charger on my BCD396XT for a while, and it had enough current to power the scanner and charge the batteries and it did not get warm. If a power supply is too under current, it may get very warm. If yours does not get very warm, it should be fine.

Just be very certain of the polarity of the tip. The correct voltage with an incorrect polarity will likely damage the scanner.
