Blount County AMR is going to TACN. They have the radios all labeled for each medic unit and in the charging bay.The portables are APX4000 7-800 Only. Found this out from a friend.

I find it interesting a Private EMS Company is paying to go on TACN.

While they are Private EMS company they have been a longtime EMS Provider for the county as well as Knox for 911 ALS Services so that could provide some stability about them deciding to changeover. I'm unsure what TACN policy is but some states allow private EMS companies to be on the system even when they don't have 911 contracts. I guess if they are willing to shell out the cash they will allow it. I guess that means Blount County Rescue might switch too since they are dispatched on the EMS frequency.

Add to that upkeep on repeaters/back up power/antennas/radios is not cheap.
