To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I was wondering if anyone knows where I can get my Motorola Astro Spectra VHF radio "J SPLIT" flashed so that the radio will do trunking.(H51) ?

My current radio is as follows:

Model # D04JKF9PW4AN
Flashcode: 54001-001000-2
System Package G48

Depends on the trunking. If wanting to do 9600 bps operation...that is a rare beast and it'll likely be easier to locate another radio as the Astro Spectras are well out of support for those types of upgrades (and the firmware is very specific for 9600 bps trunking).

Yes, I had one of these radios upgraded about 4 or 5 years ago.The Flashcode then was 599008-041E40-4 (G51) The problem is that I can not seem to locate the guy that did it for me back then. A friend on mine just had one of these J Splits flashed, and the radio ended up being a K split once he had it Flash upgraded. Now his radio has to be programmed OUT OF BAND for the trunking. So I was just trying to see if anyone knows anybody that can do the flash upgrade, so the radio will still be a J split.

It would require an entirely different Vocon board to convert it from an Astro Spectra to an Astro Spectra Plus, if you want 9600 P25 Trunking. Reflashing and firmware upgrades alone won't work. You would be much better off just buying an Astro Spectra Plus or an XTL 2500 or 5000.
