American Electric Power has added a couple of new EDACS sites in the Lynchburg (VA) area.

Callsign for both of these new sites is: WPWY757

RUSTBURG (atop of Long Mountain) in Campbell County
EDACS Site ID is 3 (decimal)

If the fact that Las Vegas Metro PD dumped OpenSky isn't telling I don't know whatelse could be.. They had OpenSky for a long time but are now on the trunked P25 that is monitorable.. Was interesting listening to it last time I was in Vegas with the wife..

AEP decided a matter of years ago to replace EDACS with OpenSky. It was going to take awhile to get every part of their system switched over. But given the user complaints about OpenSky, that Harris may have discontinued new sales of OpenSky, and the ending of EDACS support, I'm not sure of where the AEP "upgrade" stands. It's a little surprising that they set up new EDACS sites at this late date but maybe they had to do that to keep everybody in the region compatible.
