I have been offered a Whistler TRX-2 to try out for a couple of weeks. My question is will I be able to listen to the local FD's / PD's that are using the NexEdge Systems with this scanner?

Any scanner that will do nexedge, will allow you to listen to FD. PD on the other hand is encrypted.

Yes, I was able to receive Sharon Police in the clear, from my location (just south of the city of Pittsburgh) on a TRX. There are some encrypted channels as well.
In some respects programming can be easier. It requires a different approach to program. It will take some time to develop a programming scheme you will like.

North and east FD are still on analog. Valley FD is nexedge digital. All PD is digital encrypted, except sharon didn't encrypt.

They have been running NexEdge for 2 years or so. Nothing has changed over here at all. I just have use of this TRX-2 and asked the question about receiving it.
