I have a BC125AT and I have noticed when I program repeaters with the Rx CTCSS, it will mute the squelch tail, but not all the time. Sometimes it go multiple transmissions and it won't catch the reverse burst and will leave the squelch tail audible. And it does this with all repeaters using CTCSS. However, my local sheriff department repeater uses DCS and that one will mute the squelch tail every single time no matter what. I'm pretty new to this stuff so I'm not sure if this is just a problem with this Uniden model or a problem with CTCSS reverse burst in general.

DCS uses an end tone to mute the audio.

CTCSS uses two (or three?) different "standards" of ending the CTCSS tone by shifting its phase.
I know that on 2-way radios when you selected the wrong "standard" (Motorola and non-Motorola and possible one more manufacturer) it will give an audiable squelch tail.
I don't know how Uniden have selected to tackle the problem but the result are probably not a 100% working squelch elimination.
