let me jump in here also, if this is ok. i am also heading to vegas and would like to listen to PD or anything else decent there, so same question, what systems do I need to program. will be staying on the strip near the circus circus.

not sure what scanner you have. RR has listings for SNACC, Pretty much everything in public service for Clark Cty. Might try the hotels, Circus Circus , mgm, Excalibar, New York New York, all cose to Circus Circus. A few have DMR, LUXOR HAS NEXDN, SO THAT IS OUT. But under Ckark Cty, there are all the Casinos listed. Surprised that they do not show encrypted, as some have DMR and that would be easy to act with.
LV Scanning
I live in Henderson, NV. You’ll do best with a digital scanner , Las Vegas Metro PD is Phase 2. P25. SNACC for LVFD, CCFD,Henderson PD/FD etc. SNACC is P25 Phase 1. The better sites in town are Apex Sunrise Angel.

thanks. would it be worth it to do the DMR upgrade to the 436 before I go? someone said las vegas PD are phase 2, that is fine with the 436. i had heard Vegas PD are encrypted. anyone verify this or not?
Lav metro pd
Only some of the talk groups on the metro pd system are encrypted. As for DMR there is a bunch of that in Las Vegas. Private and business no public service on DMR.

Metro PD is on their own Phase 2 system (BCD436HP, TRX 1)
Nevada Highway Patrol is on NSRS which is an analog EDACS system
The fire departments are on SNACC which is Phase 1 (BCD396XT)
You don't have to program in all the sites on SNACC, within Vegas city limits, including Henderson, the primary towers are Angel, Apex, Potosi, Simulcast, Sloan, and Sunrise.
The same goes for NSRS, you only have to program Angel, Apex, Potosi, Hotel Rio, Simulcast, Sloan, and Sunrise.
