• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Just saw a Bluetooth Ear Piece in the Unication Store on their page. Bluetooth ear Piece, ear clip & charging cord at $24.99.
Has another tried this unit yet and does it work well.
Thanks Ed

Interested to see an answer to this question as well.

I'm hesitant to spend this much for a Bluetooth device that I won't use all that often.

I've tried my Plugfones which will connect, but they see each radio transmission as an incoming call, which means a beep and then a voice alerting me of the incoming call. Unless it's an extended transmission, the call alert covers the entire transmission, making them useless.

I purchased a cheaper Bluetooth from Amazon with the same results as my Plugfones.

Hopefully, the next incarnation from Unication will have a headphone jack.

It would be nice just to have a headphone jack on the pagers, I guess with the current build that would have taken up more room inside, but from what i hear about the Bluetooth it seems like a waste anyway.

Nope, you have the beep beep connecting tones like the phone is ringing everytime the radio talks. This has been discussed at length in other parts of these forums, but I don't know where. I have experienced it firsthand.

Going off memory i believe the BT 2.0 or 2.1 protocol is whats Unication is using for BT connectivity. As such its treating each transmission as an incoming call and not media like the newer BT 4.0 would use.
Its an over simplified explanation but thats the gist of it.

I think one reason there isn't a headphone jack is the G4/5 is waterproof (up to a point). Putting a jack would negate that feature.

I agree the 'beeps' when a call come across are irksome, but I'm learning to live with it.

Excellent point! Didn’t even put that together. Would be nice if it had a newer version of BT that would stream it as media instead of a call.
