I've been looking at the TDCJ licenses on the FCC website and noticed numerous licenses not listed on the RR database . It seems that each unit that is located in highly concentrated areas (where there are 3 or more units) has its own repeater now... This is only speculation on my part. Some of the areas I'm looking at are Gatesville, Huntsville, Brazoria County just to name a few.Has anyone in areas that have 2 or more prisons logged new frequencies from TDCJ ? When I have more time I'll post these new ,unlisted frequencies... there to many to post now.

I've noticed them too, but I haven't worked for them in ten years, nor do I live close to any of them. I suspect it has to do with the goal of getting building ops on repeaters. Simplex VHF was atrocious through 100's of meters of concrete, brick and steel.

Here is a partial list of new ( not in RR database)repeaters from FCC website. The info may not be correct. Some may already be listed in the data base or updating old licenses.

156.210 for Ferguson was updated by a submitter. Seems that many of the new repeaters are using DCS tones. Submitter also said that the old 153.815 (CH 2) repeater wasn't in use anymore for Ferguson. It would be interesting to know if it is still in use for the area at all. When I worked there, 154.995 (CH 1) was in use for field bosses and transportation within the city of Huntsville (Wynne, Holliday, Byrd, Goree and Huntsville) and 153.815 (CH 2) was used the same way for the river bottom units (Eastham, Ellis, Estelle and Ferguson.)

On the TDCJ database I noticed that there are several repeaters that have 151.625 as the input ,I dont believe this is correct as this is an interiant frequency. In June I may be going to Amarillo for a week. I might try to figure out the channel plan with Clements and Neal as I'm familiar with those units since I worked there in'94 and '95.Which brings up a funny story:
I was working the radio picket when a chain bus called in on CH1 VHF. I answered "Go ahead 9516'" . They never answered so after a few minutes they called back. and I answered in a louder voice : "THIS IS NEAL GO AHEAD 9516 WITH YOUR TRAFFIC . After about 20 seconds still no answer, Then the phone rings and it was the backgate saying :" I dont know who you are talking to but you sound good back here". I was on the building radio (UHF) ,

Sounds about right. We were on CH 48 at Estelle, which was simplex VHF. I could see a hall boss two gates down talking on the radio and not hear a dang thing unless I took a step or two sideways. Get outside of the building though and we could talk from one corner of the fence to the opposite corner clear as day.
