• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello,

I’m very new to Harris, don’t own any Harris radios as we speak. A friend of mine has offered to give me a VHF M7100 Radio. Primary purpose of this radio will be for Amateur Radio useage. He has offered to program it initially to whatever I would like. Question that I have is would it be a good investment to purchase the software to make changes down the road at all? If so what does that software program run for purchase price? Also next question is how user friendly is the programming software for this unit? I am very familiar with programming CPS Motorola in different units and Icom & Yaesu

First question you’d need answered is what is he programming it with? If it’s RPM there’s a very slim chance of you obtaining a legal copy of it... not impossible to get older copies of “programmer.” Once it’s been programmed up it’s hard but not impossible to roll it back to an older version. It is easy to brick it using wrong software.

I’m not sure what is using to program it. My friend that I’m getting it from is a License Radio Dealer, so I’m assuming it would be done with a professional grade programming software. Initially I’m gonna give a Excel list of what I want in it. Okay, that’s what I have been told is it’s a bit more tricky to program unlike a Motorola. And thanks DisasterGuy for the pricing quote. I’m just curious if it would be worth the investment to purchase the software. With it having 8 16 channel zones, I’m going through this list with a lot of patience putting it together so I wouldn’t have to reprogram or add a thing for quite some time. Typically our local repeaters don’t change tone, etc that often, usually only reprogram my radios about every 3 years or so.

DO NOT ASK ME FOR HELP PROGRAMMING YOUR RADIO. NO.
Be aware, the chances of an individual being authorized by Harris to purchase any software with trunking capability are PRETTY. DARNED. LOW.

I won't say ZERO, but only because people actually DO win the lottery very rarely.

To quote Spongebob, "Yeah, well, good luck with that!" .

Harris does not want you to use one of their radios to monitor systems owned and operated by their customers and built by Harris.

They're going to tell you NO. Unless you enter into a business agreement with them that requires the signing of contracts and the exchange of a large sum of money.
