Hi guys. Our club has a 2820H that lives at the EOC. It needed updated, so I brought it home for reprogramming.

I am using the CS-2820 programming software and a genuine Icom cable. I was pleased to see the cloning software for this radio is almost identical to Icom's LMR radios.

All programming is finished and the radio is ready to go, but I CAN NOT get the radio to take the alpha tags either in the software or via the front panel. In the software > Memory channel > 0-99 > I have the tags entered in the "name" column but they don't appear on the radio.

Is there a trick to alpha tagging this radio? I'm sure I missed something.

Page 67 in the manual. Available online.
ePush [M.N](LOW•PRIO) several times to select “MEMORY
NAME,” “FREQUENCY” or OFF.
• When “MEMORY NAME” is selected, the programmed memory
name is indicated above frequency indication; when “FREQUENCY”
is selected, the programmed memory name is indicated
at the frequency indication and the programmed frequency
is indicated above the memory name.
rPush [F• ]twice to exit the function guide indication.
NOTE: When no memory name is programmed, the stored
frequency is displayed.

Thank you Frank! That got it. Interesting that this has to be enabled via the radio as the programming software has no provision to do so. Almost like they forgot to include that in the programming.
