• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Flexible RX list for turning on and off. RX Group list can do it to keep it active at all times. These are CP and LCP solutions. You can get tricky with auto scan if it is stand alone or IPSC. A little more information about the system is needed.

I think i got it right based on what you were saying

I setup a ID as a CAP PLUS channel

went to my sites told them to listen to rx group 1

put that channel in the list

and can send a txt message to it, Wish they would just let you do a call alert

Create a separate talkgroup ID for the radios you want to receive the message.

Add that talkgroup ID to the RX group list

Assign that group list to the subscribers you want to receive it.

Someone has to have a radio capable of transmitting on that talkgroup ID. When they do, all radios with that RX group list assigned will receive it.

I read this as you wanting to do a voice notification to certain radios. I'd have to research a little on group texting as I've only used third party software. You can set up canned messages but I'm not sure about a "group list" for people they need to go to. Maybe someone else can chime in.

You can enable a receive alert on the talkgroup you are using for notification. I can remember what types of noise it makes, but there were some choices...... TT

You have it correct. We deliver NWS Warning, Staff information, Situational updates, and for some college campuses copies of the mass notification messages. With 2.8.5 you can even do a group message and request confirmation from some users. Aka: supervisors.

You can. In CONTACTS where you set your talk group ID's, check off CALL RECEIVE TONE and under the RING STYLE you can pick ringer 1 through ringer 10. You would make this change to the talk group ID you have set up as your notification.

You can mimic a quick call in LCP. All you need is an xpr7550 and when you key up if the keypad is programmed to be "hot while transmitting" then when you press the PTT you can press a number on the keypad of your xpr7550 radio which will send out a loud DTMF tone to all users on that talk group. After the tone is sent release ptt and then ptt again and proceed with your announcement.
