Can I listen to my local PD?

I had a couple of scanners as a kid and loved listening to all types of stuff. Eventually my local police department went to a trunking system and I never upgraded. Ive tried all kinds of apps but they are never listed. I’m not too familiar with the technical stuff so I’m not sure if they are encrypted or not and don’t know if a modern scanner will work to listen to them. I just want to know if it will work before I spend $3-400 on a new scanner.

The 2 police departments I’d be most interested in listening to are North Miami Beach and Aventura in Florida. Could anyone here let me know if this would be possible?

Aventura talkgroups are encrypted, so no listening there.

Looks like they're both encrypted, so unfortunately the answer is no, you can't listen to them on any consumer radio.
