It appears that the STARS system has made an update to their talkgroups. I knew it was going to happen soon but it appears, at least, VSP has changed. Salem 2 went from 769 to 2112. I haven't figured out the rest yet, but it may be worth going back to an ID search for those that are not currently.

I'm finding no changes in Richmond area. 2112 is for State Park Police in Div.6. Probably being linked to VSP for some reason. Try locking out 2112 and see if 769 reappears.

Hmm. I knew they were linked. Just odd that nothing was coming across in the last 24 hours. In any case, I do know they’re going to do some change in the next couple months so BOL.

This has been going on for several years now.

2112 is usually patched on a number of towers to 769. But for some strange reason it sometimes switches to 769 being patched to 2112.

DSDPlus shows it as Supergroup 769/Subgroup 2112 when 769 is dominant and Supergroup 2112/Subgroup 769 when 2112 is dominant.

The switched again to 2112 being the dominant talk group.

I've usually noticed it corresponds to units having issues on 769 but don't know.

Thanks for the info, will be watching for them. I wonder what they will be. P2 maybe?

It won't. Don't ask me why but it doesn't. Its as if 769 doesn't exist traffic wise for listeners. Nothing on scanners, DSDPlus or Unitrunker on that talk group when 2112 is dominant.

I need a little help here. I have three RS PRO 197 scanners. When I try to program VA STARS freq's for example Tower 1-010 Harrisonburg (Rockingham County) is suppose to be Prim CC 161.8125.All my scanners wont except that and makes the last numbers . 8100 in other words won't accept what it's suppose to and not only for this tower but others as well. If the tower freq is 161. 8175 then it reverts it to 161. 8150. Tried to enter manually but still it reverts back. All the 197's I have does this and I am thinking I am missing a lot of traffic. Please tell me what I am doing wrong.

Thank You
Randy

It's a band settings issue, the scanner won't allow 12.5KHz frequency steps. If the scanner is an older model, there may not be a fix. Google "rebanding" and your scanner model and you may find more info.

You're doing nothing wrong. The PRO-197 will give you 161.810 or 161.815, either of which are 2.5 kHz away from the target. I suspect you're doing okay. Do you have Pro96com on your computer? You might be able to tell from that if you have problems with this site compared to those where the 'correct' freq can be tuned.

Okay Allen I see what you're saying regarding being off a little.
Thanks

Exactly. Your third decimal place is the 1 kHz position.

I've had similar issues with the TRX-1 on UHF often going to something off-freq from what I entered. I think it's something like .625 kHz. So 462.5000 might end up being tuned as 462.499375 or 462.498375. Annoying, but not really a problem in terms of reception.
