• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I recently purchased an APX6000XE on eBay, however it wasn’t until I recived the radio that I realized that the flashcode does not have the TDMA operation enabled. How would one go on about upgrading the flashcode to support the TDMA?

Current Flashcode: 5010L82004800

Contact a reseller who has MR status. What are you trying to do with the radio?

What do you mean?

He means authorized to go on the system you want to listen to.

It's highly unlikely you will be able to program the radio to any trunked systems. The system keys required to program trunking modes is closely guarded. Without it, CPS simply won't let you touch it.

Because there are quite a few garbage pail, hack job APX radios on Fraudbay...

And that, too.

I meant the hacked/alt/dev not getting Moto support. Figure I would save the legitimate user on a system speech for someone else and/or a layer time.

Well I hope it’s not an alt as it’s a model 1 and paid 900 for it

Negative tagless and it has 123ABC as serial. I believe I got an ATL

Most likely. A good percentage of APX radios without tags and/or phony tags are either stolen, ALT (Accelerated Life Testing=abused and battered, literally) or DEV (development) radios that are either being sold by those who know what they have and fail to disclose the provenance, or surplus brokers who are clueless.

It is up to the BUYER to ask questions, request history, and select a seller who stands behind their items.

Not all tagless radios are junk, some that have been vetted by reputable sellers aren't suspect, but don't expect Motorola to support a third party purchase of an aftermarket sale anymore than Ford or GM would warranty a vehicle made from aftermarket parts with a salvage/questionable title that was say, in a flood or totaled by an insurer.

Always buy the SELLER not the item.

Good luck.

That's just not true. Anyone with even low level google skills can find an unnamed tool quickly and easily. I wouldn't call that closely guarded.

Well, I’m sure he means legitimate system keys are well guarded.

Thank you all for the help. The main purpose of this thread was to know how to upgrade a Flashcode and not really in system keys.

I guess you are unaware of some of the newer flashes which require the use of an ASK and not the software key.
