Has/is signing a contract with Zuercher Technologies to go to computer aided dispatch services. How does this Affect monitoring the system?

Usually they still use radios. They don't have a lot of units anyway. They hardly ever talk. Lots of money wasted.

Blanco is a fairly quiet county...until it's not. Keep in mind, the three Blanco county sites handle over 69,000 calls a month. In terms of resource utilization, Blanco county sites average 35%. In comparison, the average resource utilization system wide (all of GATRRS) is 25%. In other words as the system is currently built, Blanco county sites handle 40% more calls per available voice channel than the system average.

Last I checked, there were around 400 subscribers county wide but not all of those make up primary, full time services.

CAD is primarily related to keeping ongoing calls in track. While the new CAD system may have the ability to integrate to an Astro25 system or send data info to users it's primary purpose is helping the dispatchers by keeping visual track of users and on-going calls with the data related to those calls (call location, officer location, officers dispatched to a call, etc).

thanks

for the replies and info. The newspaper article said $250,000 for initial setup with $32 to 37,000 yearly maintenance. Blanco and Johnson City police use CopSync. The majority of the traffic has historically been
the city police. The new sheriff has managed to get more funds for the county and is staffing up and even getting more units. I also think they have finally added radar to the patrol trucks as they are running more traffic stops than ever before. Once again, thanks for the info.

That was a very interesting read. If you can, please, check you PM box since it is full.
