• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Afternoon, I was wondering what version DSP I would need to acquire to allow AEGIS functionality? This is a radio with J2R11B01 firmware for Programmer R18 (AEGIS enabled). However, I programmed it to utilize AEGIS (unencrypted), but get an HARDWARE ERR: 0060 message and the radio power cycles when ever I key the mic on the AEGIS system. Any wisdom on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Is the Digital Voice feature bit enabled (bit 12, formerly called the "AEGIS" bit)?

What DSP code is in the radio? F4/F5/F6 support AEGIS.
F7/F8/F9 DSP codes are a bit more dicey, as their primary focus was ProVoice and P-25 digital formats.

BTW:
The M7100 and P5100/P7100 radios were the last models to support AEGIS digital voice operation.

And,
The M-RK and Orion radios were the last models to support Voiceguard digital voice operation.

VoiceGuard (VG) is 1st Generation digital voice
AEGIS (AEG) is 2nd Generation digital voice
ProVoice (PV) is 3rd Generation digital voice

And unlike Motorola's (pre-P25) digital voice formats (which use a 12k baud data rate), effective talk range in VG/AEG/PV is 20% further than analog due to error correction and using a 9.6k data rate.

Thats exactly what I needed to hear. My current DSP is F7R06H03. Also, I was incorrect in saying my firm was B01....It is in fact J2R11C02. That may be a factor

TAC has sucked since the Harris takeover. I really miss being able to call Mark and getting a file I needed in my inbox a couple minutes later. His experience and knowledge is invaluable.

All the DSP and firmware files I have are for RPM, so if you have RPM, you're good to go, and I can send them to you.

Yeah for giggles, I reached out to TAC....no go without an account. But on the plus note, I had another radio with an F4 DSP. Aegis works like a charm now. Thanks for the help everyone
