On my travels to NJ. I program NJSP into the scanner Reception seems to be very poor. I am using a windshield mounted antenna. Is this normal for this system?

It may be your antenna. I used a Larsen glass mounted antenna for a couple months with my old car. It was not very good on 800Mhz. I went back to the trunk lip with the Larsen 150/450/800 tri band antenna. This setup works very well.

Its your antenna, I use my TRX1 and its working just fine.
Get a Larsen scanner antenna and mount it far from the front of the car.

They have very good coverage, so even with a “bad” antenna you should hear them.

I have a glass mount antenna, and also a Mag mount roof mount.

I would try a roof-mounted antenna.

A lot of car windshields have thermal shielding in them these days, and that will totally screw up.the performance on an antenna like that.

Do what the others recommend & put a good model on one of the rear windows.

Agreed Scott.

And to add. Even though I have a glass mount, properly prepped and mounted, it’s not ANYWHERE near as good as a roof-mount.

UHF/VHF is ok at best.

Low band, forget it.

I’m running my glass mount at this point for SP and in-town scanning.
