allentown p25

I hear from a friend on Facebook that the switch will be in September. As far as I know the system is installed & testing. New towers at their old fire alarm hqt & tower work & comm equipment at the Savercool site. Should be interesting!

Will it be possible to hear the police said again if they switch?

What was Allentown Police and VICE actually using was it AEGIS or Provoice?
Know Fire, Ems and other city services were always EDACS trunk but not encrypted.

Pretty sure APD was using Provoice.

Looks like P25 control channel is 860.9375, NAC 00A. WACN 924A4

According to the RR Database, it is Provoice Encrypted. No information in the DB yet regarding this new system. But, I can't imagine why they would move away from encryption if they are already using it.

If they are using Provoice, you can listen to that now with a 436, unless they have turned on ESK with it.

Motorola Systems and Harris systems use AES Encryption for the new Phase II Systems. This will not be available to listen too.

I imagine the new system they also will be. Just no scanner will hear them.

What system did Allentown go with ? Harris ?

Since Activity Log shows "add Harris Patch ID", I would say it's a Harris system.

No apologies necessary. It's the Activity Log from my 436HP. They are testing the system, although not very much. Only a few comms each day.

Our county system has had some issues getting up and running. Sounds decent, tones are super hot when they come out.

Both towers are up and testing on 2 channels . I told the conversion will take place in late October or early November. They have close to 1000 radios to replace or upgrade . It’s a Harris P25 Similcast System . I’m not sure I can post pictures to this site

The city of Allentown signed a deal with Harris to upgrade the end of life EDACS system to a 800mhz 10 channel Simulcast 2 site radio system . The 2 site are build ant they are in testing stage . New Mobile radios and postables are being installed psesently and cut over is expected. Late October all police and some EMS talk groups are expected to be encrypteim . Presently their are over 1000 radios between the city and county .
