I'm a sucker, I am quick to buy new scanner releases.. I'm listening to my 436 right now with all the text rubbed off the keys and the clock battery long dead. I was OK with the advertised features of the 436 taking a year to get implemented, I chocked that up to some disconnect between engineering and marketing.

I've been following this radio release for a while.. I can tell you, for the first time in a long time, I don't care.

Between the price point and more "features" to purchase later on to add functionality to an already $$$$ scanner, I'm passing on this for the first time in a long time..

The clock battery issue can still be addressed at no charge. The repair campaign for that is still open and available.

Yeah, wait it out. So far no wood for me. The black screen on white is working better than stock. Too late for me to start comparing 436 and 100 on same antenna.

Be a while before I buy another Uniden. Got burnt on the BCD436 and missing p25 transmissions and poor UHF. I like Unidens newest radar detectors though.

I'm in the market for a new scanner, and I really like what I'm seeing in the SDS100 ... but like you, I'm going to wait and see what Whistler brings to the table before coughing up the buck$.

Same here, wait for Whistler option. Usually I am early adopter but there but my gut feeling is wait and see. And hope Whistler release a "Whistler design" scanner not necessary copy anything from Uniden. What I see so far there is really nothing to copy or learn from SDS100.

V1 can't hold a candle to the Uniden R3. Escort had been mopping the floor with Valentine for the last ten years, but Uniden came out of nowhere and is killing everybody.

LIKE Everybody else, I did jump on board for Whistler TRX-1 CAUSE THEY PICKED UP THEIR OWN VHF DMR SYSTEM. BUT FOR $600 AND $150 MORE IT ISN'T WORTH IT FOR ME EITHER!

No reason to shout. And do remember when the TRX-1 came out it was 500 dollars. The 436hp was 489.99 and if a early adopter the DMR upgrade was only 30 dollars so for a extra 20 dollars I got a scanner that trunks DMR properly. Well worth the extra 20 in my opinion.

Whistler has their own VHF DMR system? Is that in Arkansas?

I'm waiting too, but for different reasons. I wasn't burned by the early x36HP batches. My 436 performs very well.

I want to see what, if anything, Uniden comes up with in a base/mobile offering in the new SDSxxx family. I also want to wait out the early adoption phase and see what starts turning up after the honeymoon phase is over.

Ditto. I didn’t pull the trigger on the 436/536 until well into the game. By then the hardware bugs had been dealt with and operation has been seamless.

I am concerned about those that have reported heat generated off the unit and how that will stand the test of time and usage. That appears to be my only worry. All other indicators from those reporting in is the reception and operation is as advertised, if not better.

I also await for the base unit to be released.

I will get one eventually, but will be wise to hold off and let any issues get worked out. Meanwhile, I’ll keep eating popcorn and read how the initial release units fare through the summer and fall.
