Been trying to monitor ManBay for some time using the LTR info in the database but haven't heard a thing. While spectrum mapping I noticed DT3 and the same color code popping up on the LTR freqs, so I plugged them in as a MotoTRBO system and got something.

WPKX995 http://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsApp/UlsSearch/licenseFreqSum.jsp?licKey=1923239

854.1375 LCN 251 CC10
854.7625 LCN N/A CC10
855.2875 LCN N/A CC10
855.8125 LCN 9 CC10
857.7875 LCN 543 CC10
858.7875 LCN 623 CC10
859.6875 LCN 695 CC10
860.5125 LCN 761 CC10

I've never seen 3 digit LCNs before, will run the analyzer again. LCN 9 is the control channel.

Talkgroups monitored so far...

Stayed there last week for the first time since the horrible tragedy. Didn't bring scanner, but you can't help but notice they have switched to pretty a robust security force. Wouldn't be surprised if new equipment came with the new secret service-like security force. Doesn't look like traditional casino security folks at all.

The system is busier today, several talkgroups logged, radio traffic confirms this is Mandalay Bay. I've submitted what I have to the database.

Mandy migrated to DMR quite a while ago. I think it was late last year, maybe early this year.

Plenty of other casino-resort properties have migrated to DMR this year -- The Rio (encrypted!), The Flamingo (encrypted!), MGM Grand... Station Casinos is either still in the process or recently finished switching their properties to Capacity+ systems --Green Valley Ranch Resort migrated in May.

The good news is that in most cases, the places are using the same freqs they used for their analog trunked systems. The FCC licenses don't always reflect they've moved to DMR. Since DMR is more efficient, & the LV area is pretty spectrum-dense, you'd think the FCC would allow the switch to DMR *if* the licensee gave-up a couple of the freqs from their analog system license. There's really a lot of enforcement action/NALs that the FCC could/should do around here regarding some licensees & comms vendors that should know better...

Trying to program this Mandalay Bay Resort TRS into a Uniden BCD436HP scanner and Uniden SDS100, and they won't hear anything. My Whistler TRX hears it, but the Unidens will not.

I am trying to determine why LCN's are 1 off, because DSD Plus shows it, for example, 854.1375 as channel 503 and 504, and when I divide the even number of 504, that should be 252, and I'm wondering why it should be 251 and not 252 to match the formula of dividing the channel number by 2.

Thanks in advance, Mick

Does anyone know if it's possible to monitor a Tier 3 DMR with the BCD325P2?

I'm able to monitor the new Mandalay Bay DMR, however each scanner that I've attempted it with keeps missing transmission. I've tried it with (BCD436HP & BCD536HP both are identical internally), SDS100 and TRX-1.

The TRX-1 seems to here most transmission, but I've been told that it doesn't use the control channel, so the LCNs aren't really used. However, I've noticed the TRX-1 is missing about 1 out of 5 transmissions.

The BCD436HP and BCD536HP are hearing transmission, but they also drop a number of them. In some case the BCD436HP will hear one transmission and then the BCD536HP will hear the next. Very frustrating.

The SDS100 is have major issue. It also picks up about 1 out of 5 transmissions. This extremely frustrating. This is the most expensive scanner I've ever bought and the newest one from Uniden.

The bad news is the BCD325P2 doesn't seem to support Tier 3 DMR at all. I have not heard a single transmission for Mandalay Bay on this scanner.

BTW, these are the LCNs and Color Codes that I programmed into all scanners:

LCN=251 854.1375 CC=10
LCN=543 857.7875 CC=10
LCN=623 858.7875 CC=10
LCN=695 859.6875 CC=10
LCN=761 860.5125 CC=10
LCN=831 855.8125 CC=10 Control Channel

I'm hoping Uniden comes up with possible firmware updates to address these issues.

Perhaps Man Bay is using Digital IP radios like what ER and Hospitals use. the IP / WiFi radios use DM and are really small, smaller than a FRS radio. they can be used outside but work perfectly when a IP router is present. ICOM, kenwood, yupiteru among others make IP radios.

No. DSD+ is actually hearing all of the transmission. In fact, my TRX-1 is hearing about 9 out of 10 transmissions.

I'm about a mile away (staying at the Mirage). I'm going to walk up there this afternoon to see of it's distance issue. The control channel is very strong, however the scanner keeps intermittently flashing Con+ every once in a while. Very odd.

A couple of have recommend that I apply the open beta for the SDS 100. I'm going to apply that shortly.

BTW, the BCD436HP is doing a little better during the afternoon hours.

Maybe the RF is strong around all the hotels end especially Mandalay Bay Resort.. Have you tried taking the antenna off the scanners and monitoring the system?

I've logged these TG's at Mandalay Bay Resort this week:
