As we all know, AC opened up two new casinos last week, Hard Rock Casino (formerly Taj Mahal) and Ocean Resorts (formerly Revel). However I didn't see any new licenses in the FCC DB. I wonder if these casinos will just operate their radio comms under their former FCC licenses? Are they even allowed to do that since they are essentially brand new entities?

Note: I did see a relatively new license renewal under the name, Revel, operating a 3-channel 800 MHz TRUNKED system.

Sometimes these systems are licensed under the owner's name which may be different than the casino name. Look for a corporation or affiliate name. Some just change the name and may still be owned by the same corp or person.

New AC casinos

If nothing is posted as to the radio systems in use, I will be going there on vacation the week of the air show of August 22nd. I will check the radio systems out and do a report.

I plan to be down there next week, but I highly doubt I will pick anything up on my analog scanner. If I do, i will post.

Furthermore, according to the FCC db, I didnt notice any brand new radio licenses at all in Atlantic City for a while.

I actually mark the calendar for the air show, just so I know when to avoid AC in the summer. Haha. I stopped going to those air shows due to the ridiculous crowds. It is busy enough as it is during the summer on regular days.

I went to both new casinos on Sunday night, but didn't bring a scanner. I know, I know.
Anyway, Hard Rock & Ocean BOTH appeared to be using DMR style radios. I hope this helps, and if I had DMR on a handheld and understood how to use it, I could be of more assistance! :)

For the Hard Rock, you may want to try the licensee named Boardwalk 1000 LLC, since the casino is located at 1000 Boardwalk. Callsign is WPRL940 The effective date is 5/17/2018. This could be a holdover from the Taj but it's worth a shot.

For the Ocean Resort, check Revel Entertainment WQOQ544

Correct Jaymatt. When I was down there last week, I walked through both casinos (without scanner because I was having too much fun to bother with the hobby), but did notice at both Hard Rock and Ocean, the radios had that terrible familiar muffled digital DMR sound. Analog was sooo much clearer. I dont understand the fascination with DMR.
