BCT15-X Quick Search Key

On the numeric keypad, the BCT15-X has the first three keys sub labeled Search 1-3. I can find where to set the quick key for service search for keys 1-3, but I can't seem to figure out how to actually use them. My goal was to have a quick access to service search the FRS/GMRS channels. I went to Menu>Search For...>Edit Service>FRS/GMRS>Set Quick Key and set it for Search 1. Then I exited programming. My problem now is actually using it. If I just hit '1' while scanning, I enable/disable system 1. If I press the Function knob, then hit '1', I enable/disable group 1 of the system currently being scanned. Anything else just beeps at me. I just want to quickly jump into a service search without having to drill down through the menu tree.

Bless you Sir! Exactly what I was looking for. I don't know why they could not put that in the instructions anywhere.
