It's the name you can optionally assign to a Unit ID.

Per what Jon posted - the key word is "you".

This is programming you do, it is not info in the RR database.

During your monitoring, listen for dispatch or the units to identify themselves.
(Like 1 Edward 22, John 12, whatever...)

Note the unit ID number shown on the scanner, (make sure you have set up your display to show unitID) and then go into sentinel and input this data under the corresponding FL/system.

So I have already entered some unit ids and corresponding names. I’ll test this in the morning.

But what is the difference the unit I’d name, and the 4 after that from my original post

Unit ID Name 1 (1-16)
Unit ID Name 2 (17-30)
Unit ID Name 3 (31-40)
Unit ID Name 4 (47-60)

So I changed the "Unit ID" field to "Unit ID Name"

The field now shows the names I have set up in Sentinel. If a "Unit ID" comes in that is not listed, it converts back to show the "Unit ID".

On a side note, I was able to squeeze in 18,400 Ham Radio DMR ID's without getting the FL too big message.

Yes, that's what it does. If it's not in the lookup table, it reverts back to the numeric Unit ID.

I like it that way because I'm not wasting another line for 'Unit ID' if 'Unit ID Name' showed blank/nothing when undefined.

That's when you have a long Unit ID Name, it will automatically parse the characters to the appropriate field. If you only have 'Unit ID Name', I believe it will truncate after the maximum number of characters for the location that you have placed that attribute.

Does anyone have a picture of a multi-line UID display? My SDs is on the way and I’m planning my layout. Thanks
